  • How often do you replace your helmet?

Just curious how often you guys replace your helmet.

Unless they are dropped by accident, I tend to replace them 2-5 years. My current main helmet is 4 or 5 years old and I was considering replacing it this year, even though it has never been dropped. Here is a link to helmets by the MSF; they recommend replacing it every 2-4 years regardless of how well it has been taken care of.

My bike helmet gets replaced every 2 years. I wear out the liners on them before I wear out the helmet itself.

I usually use my bike helmet for autocross and what not but with wanting to take the car to a real road course I think I'm going to purchase a helmet rated for that purpose and considering how much it would be used I wouldn't mind going out to 5 years on that one.

The EPS liner and exterior of the helmet no matter how "high quality" the helmet is breaks down over time. I'm personally not sticking my dome into a helmet that was manufactured more than 5 years go.

Usually every time I change bikes since the guy buying never has his own. However I have had the HD a while now and my half helmet has been with it, so two years and going strong.

I'd only replace when damaged, but I kind of have a helmet buying problem, so it's not an issue.
