I also have a 86 Yamaha something that I found in the trash that I'm planning to fix up an make a cafe racer.

Looks like an '85ish Maxim. My buddy had a pair of them, fun little bike. The stock tank is a bit too angled for a cafe, but I'm sure you can make something work. My first bike was it's brother, the Seca, much flatter back bone for what you are wanting to do.
