everytime I begin to consider getting a bike, I come across a story like this or worse and it convinces me to not get one. I'll get the itch again in a few months and will once again come across someone's "close encounter" experience and be turned off. I swear this has been occurring for a few years now and I still don't have one.

riding like you're invisible is the only way to ensure your safety.
don't trust ANYONE. seriously, if you ride and think "i'll be okay they can see/hear me".. you're in for a rude awakening.

You can tell the truly cautious riders though, hell some even make eye contact with me sometimes. They are either trying to eye fuck me or make sure they know, that I know that they are there.
Either way, they are not in my blind spot and for riders that's the number one thing you can do. Stay behind me, stay in front of me or even at my door - but don't stay where it is least likely that I'll see you. Especially on my passneger side. Yall ride so low that if I'm luck I may see your helmet over the bed of my truck if you're doing your tuck thing and in the wrong spot.

Frankly, I'd never shoot or swing at you though for just that. I would fully expect you to pull over and I may even apologize if I did not see you and was about to take you out.
However, if you automatically act all gangster - it would not make for a productive situation for any of us.

you are right bikes are hard to see at times and i see kids doing stuped shit every day on them i have no respect for that kind of rider.
hell just the other night i saw a kid on a croch rocket with his GF, both didn't have a helmet on or jackets and were speeding. when i pulled up next to them i bitched them out til the light turned green.
but don't try and act like all bike are so dangerous when you don't know what your talking about. i have been riding for years and never had a wreck with a car due to me being a good rider and watching my own ass.
the way people drive around here is retarded. you have so many people doing stupid shit on the roads. a few weeks ago i had some jack ass in a vett almost hit me in the HOV lane when he cut in front of me to go around traffic. he knew i was their and did it to look like a bad ass.

Sux when drivers don't notice you. But I don't understand how his mirror got knock off and you were that close to his door but he didn't notice you. I don't think loud pipes save live as much as people think. Especially with new cars sound proofing the interior. Glad your alright
