Looks good. I have a bud with the same car and year.

I got an idea to paint a car orange once. Looked like a Haloween decoration when it was done.

Got some more done this weekend. Doing all this patch work really slows the progress down.

Cool project. That is not much rust at all.

It really is a pretty solid car. I am hoping to get it painted in the next couple of months. Since paint and body is just a hobby, it takes a long time to get anything done. That and having a 3 and a 5 year old doesn't help either.

Update. I had to cut the driver's side trunk drop down out of a parts car. Cleaned it up the best I could, wire brushed the hell out of it. Welded it in place, seam sealed the welds, and painted it with rust stop primer and paint. The panel is way more solid than it looks in the first pic. Got both lower rear quarter patches installed and rough mudded in. Making some progress, slowly but surely.

That is going to be a sweet ride when you're done. Thanks for the updates.

Love the car! I suppose you're not going back to a vinyl top, correct? Killer either way.

No, I am not going back with the vinyl top, roof is in too good of shape to do that. I welded the trim holes shut and got rid of the trim.

The trunk floor extensions look the same as a Mustang and they are cheap to buy new.

They look similar, but they don't list them as fitting the Cougar in the catalogs I looked in.

Started working on the project car again. Looks like I may get to keep going on it this time. I am ready to have this paint job done. I think the colors are going to work really well together.
