There's a company called Magnadrive that uses this principle to build "contactless" couplers for engines. The power is transfered over an airgap via Eddy currents so vibration, shock, etc are greatly reduced... Really cool shit. We've used them on some specialized pump applications and they came in and did this demo (seen in the first vid) in the office one day and let us play with their uber-strong magnets with the warning that if we crushed a finger or something they weren't liable.
Adjustable Speed Drive and magnetic coupling solutions from MagnaDrive are ideal for a wide range of applications. Contact us to learn more!

I'm fascinated by magnets. I bought some of those Bucky Balls and they're my favorite toy. Ever.

The dingle arm is the key. If they can only work out the parametric interface with the inverse-flow canooter valve, they will be able to achieve the required 1.21 gigawatts.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View Postlol methinks I've been duped."It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."
