No kidding. When I started with Deloitte 11 years ago, I was paid $46k starting. So, PRESUMING I only worked 40 hours wk for 48 weeks (excluding holidays/vacations), that comes out to about $24/hr unburdened for actual time worked. Deloitte I think had a standard billing rate somewhere in the $1xx range/hr.

Gotta pay those partners and all the overhead, not to mention their new $300mm training facility going up in Westlake. Deloitte is a good company and I'm glad I worked there, but I'm even more glad I'm not in public accounting anymore. It's tough work with the billing hour requirements they ask of you and having to track your time, etc.

$15-18/hr is pretty lame on that CL ad for an experienced CPA unless it's some retired old lady who wants to work 15-20 hours/week for some extra cash, get out of the house, and socialize a little bit with some other office people.

Yeah, otherwise he probably would've said "how much I get paid..."

Man, I wish I got paid what the company got paid for my services.

I was curious about that actually. In the 40s, 50s, 60s...70s..."good ole days" did the POTUS necessarily get involved and do speeches about such things?

I mean, they should be in the loop but it really should be a local/state reaction thing. If they request help from the federal government though...

edit: for the record, I'm not really sure what good POTUS folks have done in the past. I know local government tries to blame crap on the federal government, but I'm not sure that's necessarily the problem (Katrina - hard to win on that one).
