Don't let that fucker fool you. There are a TON of jobs in PA. Yankees just don't want to step up and work, and think an entry level job should be able to provide for their wildest dreams. There's a reason the Marcellus shale us over run with Texas gas crews.Originally posted by Johnny Armijo View PostI like tht native pennsylvanian tht said he's spent most of his adult life unemployed. Theres tons of jobs now, but before 2 years ago there were none. This state was as broke as anything. Most of the industry died out. The major 2 industries were coal and steel. They are hiring more PA people for O&G jobs, but they are inexperienced and most want union type jobs. Its a struggle, but its getting better. Its nice for me to come up here because I knew the business, It was wide open for me.Originally posted by Yale View PostDon't let that fucker fool you. There are a TON of jobs in PA. I was about to argue with ya, but you're right now that I think about it. Past my father's generation - most of the males in my family have done jail time (multiple years) and not a whole lot on the career front.Originally posted by Yale View PostDon't let that fucker fool you. I joined the Army to get out of small town PA. However, you're right. Mainly the jobs are labor intensive to start out with and a lot of folks don't want to do that. Previous generations got them a little spoiled.
However, that's not PA alone or the NE alone. Look around, it's the American way these days.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Boo fucking hoo. Sounds like someone should have done more due diligence before signing up to work at Hershey.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

My friend's girlfriend works there. The employees refer to it as Mouschwitz. She has a pretty sweet job though. She does guided tours for high profile visitors (celebrities, athletes, etc).Originally posted by Ratt View PostDisney does the same thing, but on an even worse level, and they do it to our own countrymen. This is exactly what their "college internship" is at Disney. When you see those tables out recruiting at colleges for an "internship" at Disney, or a summer or semester work-study program, there's no studying involved. You work the shit jobs at the parks: the wait-staff, flipping burgers, bathroom scrubbers, etc. It's all a load of horse-shit to get cheap student workers.
I got a kick out of the guy complaining that it should be a union job at a "living wage." I'm sure in his mind they should be getting $20/hr to load boxes of candy. $5 Hershey's Bar here we come!

In all fairness, that was decent money in 1920.Originally posted by JP135 View PostIf things are so damned bad here, feel free to...
GO BACK HOME!
Did you work shit jobs as a kid? I damn sure did. My first full-time job was at a horse ranch. I was 14. I worked 50 hours a week and got paid $15 a week. I thought I was in Heaven.

I've got a friend who as spent the last 2 years in PA running an oilfield service company and his comment was many of the locals he hired had no idea how to work and would rather live off of the government than work an honest job. One example he found ridiculous was the guys that shoveled snow didn't mow yards and vice versa, instead they would just live off of unemployment during the off season.Originally posted by Yale View PostDon't let that fucker fool you.
