Yep, 48 and solid upper middle class. LOL! And I know most of us have been through the whole 2V deal. Mine was a Sonic Blue '03 with a Procharger that made a tad over 400 at the wheels. Lost my first race to a cammed '98 Z28 the day I got it back from tuning. Benn there, done that, got the t-shirt, burned the shirt and vowed never to make the 2V mistake again. Ever.Originally posted by onemeangixxer7502 View Postyour old and middle class?
Jk yah it would suck to drop that much money and have stock cars be neck and neck.

Ive never had a 2valve or desire to get one. Last stang I had was an 04 cobra, the new gt's seem pretty nasty though. I'm trying looking around to snag up a cheap viper gtsOriginally posted by SonicblueGT03 View PostYep, 48 and solid upper middle class. LOL! And I know most of us have been through the whole 2V deal. i'll be over 600 at the wheels through an s-trim 2v with less than half the investment of a 2012 gt. it's all in the build. a stock 2012 gt won't beat the car your 03 lost to either. well, at least not with the same driver(s). i got my car for really cheap though, it was my dads. if i were to buy a car it would be a fox or a 4.6 4v.Last edited by jnobles06; 10-22-2011, 10:06 PM.

i dont think an S-trim will support 600 @ the tire...you're probably gonna need to go with a T-trim.Originally posted by jnobles06 View Posti'll be over 600 at the wheels through an s-trim 2v with less than half the investment of a 2012 gt. it's all in the build. a stock 2012 gt won't beat the car your 03 lost to either. well, at least not with the same driver(s). i got my car for really cheap though, it was my dads. if i were to buy a car it would be a fox or a 4.6 4v.
and its easy to say "ive got a $4k car and put $XX,XXX into it and can beat your new 5.0!!"
but what happens in a year or two when the 5.0s are on used car lots and can be had fairly cheap? or even cheaper after the new body style comes out? a full exhaust and a few lb of boost and theyre matching your heavily modifed on-the-ragged-edge 2V but still have a stock longblock and perfect driveability.2011 Mustang GT

Your argument is technically invalid, since you started with a used New Edge. Try the same scenario, only go back to 2003 and start with a brand new car, and then tell me how that works out for you cost wise. I can easily build a fast a 2V but to what end? A few simple mods to my 2012 and I'm already running 12.1x's in Texas heat on stock tires. Good air and dr's and I should be able to crack some high 11's off. Know any 2V cars that can do that with similar mods? Didn't think so.Originally posted by jnobles06 View Posti'll be over 600 at the wheels through an s-trim 2v with less than half the investment of a 2012 gt. it's all in the build. a stock 2012 gt won't beat the car your 03 lost to either. well, at least not with the same driver(s). i got my car for really cheap though, it was my dads. if i were to buy a car it would be a fox or a 4.6 4v.
And a 2012, with a canned VMP tune did beat that very same Z28. With the very same drivers. It was a nice payback.
And I'm guessing with over 600hp to the wheels, you have taken the proper steps to keep it alive? (and if you haven't, well, we've all been past the 500hp 2V barrier a time or two as well, the phrase living on borrowed time comes to mind).

Keep focusing on just horsepower, if that helps you enjoy your car more. In reality, you are comparing a 10 year old car to brand new technology. The fit and finish of the new 5.0 is lightyears ahead of the SN95 platform. Your sounding like the next-generation of the "fox with mods" argument.Originally posted by jnobles06 View Posti'll be over 600 at the wheels through an s-trim 2v with less than half the investment of a 2012 gt. it's all in the build. a stock 2012 gt won't beat the car your 03 lost to either. well, at least not with the same driver(s). i got my car for really cheap though, it was my dads. if i were to buy a car it would be a fox or a 4.6 4v.
Your comparing apples and oranges.

You're going to put a blower on an 11.5:1 compression car? E85 must be everywhere around you.Originally posted by majorownage View PostOnce my 98 cobra is running, I'll want to run the new 5.0s n/a before I put a JT-trim on.
11.5 compression, degreed cams, and short runner intake.
See what happens
ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh
