So you are 100% sure that the piston went pop due to a tune that it was fine on for 40+ passes? Couldn't have been bad gas, couldn't have been a patially clogged injector, couldn't have been the poor cooling on #7 that claims tons of pistons? What about the stock tight ring gaps + the hot #7 + 10:1 compression? Combination of all of the above?
My plan at this point is to stay on pump/meth and add a couple of gallons of race gas at the track when I am going to turn up the boost.Last edited by dville_gt; 06-14-2012, 07:40 AM.

This is what I read. Do you remember typing this?Originally posted by dville_gt View Postbuys room on pump gas. some folks actually see more power with less (or the same) psi via the ability to be more aggressive with timing. 10:1, pump gas and 17+psi is hard to prevent detonation. 9:1 opens the window a little.
Its not hard to prevent detonation if you are an experienced tuner.

I gave him a perfectly fine file to work with and explained timing to him. Apprently he added over 5 degrees and 5lbs of boost to the last file I looked at.

You got your wish.Originally posted by dville_gt View Posti'd rather replace the stock internals after 50 runs then run around crippled at 10*/10psi.
(sorry, had to)
I'd use the opportunity to convert to E85, if only because it would give you a larger margin of error than gasoline. Yes you would have to reengineer a fuel system and all your tuning goes out the window but I think you should at least consider it.When the government pays, the government controls.

He will need new pump(s) and injectors, sure, but the tuning won't go out the window, it's a pretty basic conversion factor from E85 to 93 pump... modifying the tune to take advantage of the E85 is no harder than tuning on pump 93. E85 flex fuel vehicles have a sensor that determines the fuel type entering the rail, standalone PCM management systems are starting to include these sensors and/or provisions for them.Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostYou got your wish.

If you have a street car you want to make big fucking power with, E85 is a godsend.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. wonder how much hp my current fuel system would support on e85.
92lb injectors, eliminator pump, -10 feed, -8 return. i could still use the meth injection if i needed it for extra fueling. i just really don't want to have to deal with finding e85 all the time.

E85 needs 48% more fuel flow compared to the exact same engine running on Gasoline, what duty cycle were you at before?
--Edit-----
I've seen people say that pump maxes around 875rwhp on e85 and a little more with a controller or bap.
All kroger stations have e85, it's so available that I'm planning on converting my daily eventually.Last edited by VaderTT; 06-14-2012, 12:24 PM.Ded

Crippled is having to replace a piston. Being down 30rwhp at 10 degrees of timing is making an engine last on pump gas. You need to quit putting faith in your Craig's list methanol injection system.Originally posted by dville_gt View Postya, you can prevent detonation by disconnecting the charge pipe as well. i'd rather replace the stock internals after 50 runs then run around crippled at 10*/10psi.
How many full passes did you make at 17lbs and 15 degrees? 6-7?
