I work for GE and we build that Loco as for jumping out I think that's a last ditch effort. the front of that loco is built from 5/8" plate with a solid 1" crash bar running vertical across the front. it will survive a crash with a lot of different things but I don't know if a head on with another loco would be survivable . what is interesting is the rest of the loco ( other that the platform and the front end ) is all .090 sheet metal we actually have to put ballast in the frame to bring it up to traction weight.
