I'm gonna lower the rear first and then stop modding for a while. I'm out a phone now, so i've gotta pay for that. Fuckin thieves.

For a budget combo, sure, but you get what you pay for. For good track and dyno numbers AI is a far better choice.Originally posted by dville_gt View PostLoyd Elliot's heads/cam is way stronger then the lt4 kit. Maybe a LE LT4 kit
No it would not.Originally posted by Cobraman View PostWould look better chrome.

There is some power to be made in those engines. I had a 96' LT1 TA years ago...made 422rw NA, and wasn't really a crazy combo IMO. Stock short block with AFR heads, AFR rev kit, CC306 cam, lifters, springs, LT4 intake, Lingenfelter T-body, SLP Headers, and SLP Loudmouth exhaust. Home tuned with LT1Edit. I know it had more in it with the right tune...prob around ~450 or so. I had a 150 shot for it, but never installed it....was always curious how well it would have reacted on the bottle.Originally posted by Cobraman View Postyep lol. I've heard the lt1 is a little bit stronger. I'm thinking a mild cam/le2 heads for around 375rw, then after a little while, some boost for the 500 mark. this is all if I decide I want to mod this car at all though.
BTW - the stock heads will make good power with the right port job...you'd be surprised.70' Chevelle RagTop

I like the C4s. They have a lot of potential if you're looking to go fast.
I've seen for myself an otherwise stock '89 with TRW forged 4.030" flattops, home-ported heads, and a 150 shot that went 10s. I wouldn't recommend boost, there is a lot of underhood heat in there.
That's a nice car for only having $5k in it. But I would also be more inclined to keep it reliable than make it fast. JMOWhen the government pays, the government controls.

...and I can fully attest to that statement. Reliable and fast will never co-exist with an LT1.Originally posted by 46Tbird View Post....But I would also be more inclined to keep it reliable than make it fast. JMO
Mine made good power...but it was also one of the biggest POS I ever owned. If I had left it alone I would probably have better memories from it.

with the 24x conversion (ditch the opti, go to lsx pcm/coils) i think a huge part of the problem with the ltx can be dealt with.Originally posted by Rreemo View Post...and I can fully attest to that statement. Reliable and fast will never co-exist with an LT1.

Quick look on CL for 96's, three for 15k+ and one with a destroyed drivers seat, missing a speaker grille for 12k with 100k+ miles.
There's an 02 Z06 on CL for 15k.
