I know there were alot of people bitching about AMP being built, is that the reason for the noise limit?

Hey Matt. It was around 872 miles from my house. So yes.....it is a haul. I took the boom tube off and put on the Dr Gas X pipe and Spin Tech Muffs. They were also dumps. So when they are checking the DB levels, guys with side exhaust get nailed. Even though they are maybe quieter then my car....DB meters measure sound wave pressure.Originally posted by aggie97 View Postdid you ever upgrade the brakes?
I'd love to bring one of our cars there but the noise limit thing is an issue. No way the camaro could go there but the mustang might be ok now that it has mufflers.
I'd love to go to their next event coming up but that is a long haul. It's 10 hours to birmingham from here...not sure about atlanta.
Nice flowing track, love the elevation changes and baby butt smooth. bet it had tons of grip!
Jonathan in his Factory 5 car had problems because of his side exhaust. They had to baffle it, but still went over a couple of times.
So show up with dumps and muffs....and you should be ok. The most you can have is 98db at 50ft from the track. I was hitting 97.
Track was smooooooth....and had tons of grip. Well worth the trip.
Yeah...took them 4 years to complete the track due to everyone fighting it in the area. It is out in the country pretty much, and apparently there is a state senator that lives close by and he is the only one that really bitches about it. Instead of bitching...he should be trying to do his job, like the rest of the useless government. What people fail to realize, is the amount of $ brought into their community because of the track.Originally posted by Mach1 View PostI know there were alot of people bitching about AMP being built, is that the reason for the noise limit?

Eagles Canyon (Decatur) has a open track day once a month.Originally posted by Tannerm View PostThis has ALWAYS interested me. What do these parks charge? Is it a half/full day price, pay per lap, etc?
$150 for 4, 25min sessions(full day). One of the best values for some seat time.
Be sure your brakes are up to the task though.Interested in being a VIP member and donating to the site? Click here http://dfwmustangs.net/forums/payments.php

Yep....good value....but horrible track IMO. You can go to Apex Driving Academy out at MSR Cresson for $225 - Novice. And $185 - Int/Advance. One day events and you get 6 runs.Originally posted by Mach1 View PostEagles Canyon (Decatur) has a open track day once a month.

Nope...it is on my bucket list though. I am working on doing a tour next summer. Planning on hitting:Originally posted by 95DRGT View PostDamn that was awesome. I done a few open track events with SVT when I first got the Lightning but throwing a 5000lb brick is tough on brakes. Cooked the pads 1.5 laps in at Hallett.
I wish I could afford to get a track specific car setup- that looks like a ton of fun!!
Ever done Road Atlanta?
Watkins Glen
VIR
Mid America
Road America
Hallett
All within 3 weeks. Should be a blast!"Racing is life.....everything else is just waiting" - Steve McQueen

I guess horrible was a little rash. Just that the surface is very, very bumpy.....allot of the bumps are in the braking zones, and it always seems to be coming apart. I had not been out there for 2 years based on that, and went out and helped Five Star Ford with their first event out there a few weeks ago, and did tech and provided trackside support. I was disappointed to see that the track had not improved much. I know that they had troubles with the paving contractor in the beginning.....looks like nothing was improved. Feel bad for the track, as it looks like they would have to tear most of it up and start over.Originally posted by Mach1 View PostHorrible track? Why is that? Another thing that I didnt like about it was it was not very technical....with allot of straights. Again.....this is my opinion.
Could be that I have been to so many tracks, that I am comparing to those."Racing is life.....everything else is just waiting" - Steve McQueen

Surface is definitely no worse than TWS IMO. I remember looking at it in videos and in person before I actually ran on it, and I was thinking that it looked like shit, but after driving on it, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.Originally posted by CYAZ06 View PostI guess horrible was a little rash. ECR has that bad section in a couple of the braking zones (turn 7-8 maybe?) and for me it's kind of big with no high speed turns. I still think it's a good time and fine to sort out a car with, but I thought TWS was much more fun to race at.

My car leaves the ground in 4 places on the uphill back straight at ECR....that was 4 years ago! My car doesn't leave the surface ANYWHERE at TWS....except on the oval! LOL!Originally posted by Mach1 View PostSurface is definitely no worse than TWS IMO. ECR's problem is a couple things. They had an event on the base course of asphalt before they put the top coat on it which crumbled it. They also did a terrible job getting water OVER the paving and it flows beneath it between the base course of asphalt and the rock later below it. It's a "living" surface.
In a softly sprung car the track isn't that bad. In a race car, it makes your back hurt!
