Yes and no. The speed at which he climbs can't be matched with safety gear. Doing anything physical faster takes a lot more strength and stamina. The dude makes climbs in hours that takes others days.Originally posted by ceyko View PostRequires the same skill with safety gear, just won't splat as easily one day.

Had to go look it up - 4 days is the average. Other pros can climb El Cap on various routes multiple times in a day, but this is just nuts. The NatGeo article called it the "moon landing of free-soloing."Originally posted by Ratt View PostFuck that. A lot of climbers take more than a day to climb that shit, and he free soloed it in less than 4 hours.

Same, and that's saying something considering I grew up in the rockies. Yosemite is just a completely different ballgame.Originally posted by UserX View PostYosemite is still my favorite place on earth. I am going to hike Half Dome again next year, and my Dad is going to join me this time.

Yosemite and Incline Village, NV are my two favorite places on this entire big giant planet.

I haven't been near enough, considering it's only 3 hours south of us. I fly over there and Hech Heche a couple times a year, and its all pretty majestic from 30k feet as well. Apparently there are falls now running for the first time in a generation, thanks to all the rain and snowpack run off.
