Thanks guys!
As for the weight issue and hoping we didn't add too much "meat to it"......all of the components have been picked with an eye toward weight savings where they can be had.
But let's be honest...the 462 MEL engine and C6 tranny combo has to be one of the heaviest combos ever made by ford. The engine was an absolute tank. The coyote with the turbos will still be lighter than that thing and by a lot. The factory crossmember and suspension/brakes were like solid iron. All that's gone.
Now the car will have aluminum center section instead of iron, carbon fiber driveshaft, lighter brakes, lighter suspension, aluminum panels under the hood in place of all the steel, and aluminum engine accessories as opposed to steel.
The car will be much lighter than factory. And with twin turbos and an auto.....the torque multiplication down low should get the heavy ol girl scootin pretty quick. In theory.1990 Mustang GT - 8.17 @ 176

As insane as it sounds, some of those old C6s had iron tailshaft housings too, can't imagine how much that shit weighs.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

This one did. I kid you not I didn't think the 2,000 lb hoist was gonna get it done. The AC compressor alone felt like a large cannonball. I'll see if I can find a pic of the hvac box that came through the firewall. It was the size of a 3 ton household compressor/condensing unit. Lol the Vintage Air Gen IV box is a wee baby compared to that anchor.Originally posted by Broncojohnny View PostAs insane as it sounds, some of those old C6s had iron tailshaft housings too, can't imagine how much that shit weighs.1990 Mustang GT - 8.17 @ 176

Got it home from the chassis shop. Engine is in and the tranny crossmember is all fab'd up. Ready for me to do A LOT of work to make this a real car. Front wheels still haven't made it, but the suspension has to come apart for powdercoat anyway. So I borrowed the C4 ZR1 wheels from the syclone to make it roll.

Thanks guys!
Already a little hurdle in the turbo fitment department. All this fancy front suspension makes header fitment a little bit tight!1990 Mustang GT - 8.17 @ 176

There's a little room to go up, but not much. Too much more and there will be a driveshaft tunnel acting like a dividing wall between the driver and passenger side of the interior.Originally posted by DennyIf you have room to go up with the motor, don't be shy.1990 Mustang GT - 8.17 @ 176
