LED's aren't exactly cutting edge technology, it's the fact that you can control it via wifi and sync it with music that is, which to me is kind of pointless unless you want to have a rave party at your house every weekend. I guess if you're super lazy and don't want to get off your ass to turn out lights it might be useful.

I think its a very cool idea but the price point will kill it for a lot of consumers.

Not even, because the price of the bulbs would be rolled into a new home. That's where the market is going to be at first. Contract with a new home builder and make the bulbs standard in the new builds. Remodelers would use them in businesses and home renovations.

The link Ratt posted shows the Phillips bulb life @ 30,000 hours... you could seriously leave that light on for 3 1/2 years and it wouldn't burn out. The average life expectancy of the lights (in normal conditions) is 15+ years @ only 10% of the energy usage of a regular bulb.

This is the benefit. If you were planning on remodeling or building new, or just staying in one place long enough, then the energy savings would easily pay for itself. Not to mention you wouldn't have to be annoyed by climbing up on shit to change a bulb that went out.
