Stock '57 Chrysler is 60".Originally posted by Big Dad View PostLol
What do you need for width , exactly ?
Fox body Mustang is my preference, since it gets away from the tapered axle 8 3/4 that's in the car, is 57" wide, has the same bolt pattern when converted to 5-lug, and has the easy-to-adapt flange at the driveshaft - taking apart u-joints is such a PITA. Parts are EVERYWHERE. Having the rear a little narrower means I can run some good looking deeper-offset wheels... the chrome reverse I have on there are REALLY close to the wheel openings and a little tight to get up in the wheelhouse.
The E-body stuff is 60.7" wide and has some other plusses, but really, adapting a Fox 8.8 seems like the obvious choice. A 9" would be okay, but expensive, and would probably have to be narrowed up.When the government pays, the government controls.

I'm so sick of the 30 layers of clear coat and 20 inch wheels slammed look. Every car show is full of freaking trailer queens with the same tired formula. Back when this style started there were like 3 wheel manufacturers. Cars were truly "custom" or even "kustom". Now, everyone pieces together cars from catalogs or over the phone with whoever they are paying to do all the work. My suede 64 C10 may not be flawless, but I have done every ounce of work on it and be damned if it will ever see a 20 inch wheel.Originally posted by Magnus View PostThe only good looking car in this whole failed thread.Slow moving projects

Quality of work looks to be good, it's just ugly as hell. Mag articles and awards don't really mean squat, because everyone's taste is different.Originally posted by WildBill View PostYup......fer you short stuff.
