Yet another reason why I record the milege on my odometer and reset the trip monitor when I drop any of my cars off for any kind of service. It obviously doesn't detect this type of abuse, but it at least lets me know if they drove it 10 miles when it was in for something that didn't require any type of test drive.

Yup, happened at every dealership I worked at ALL the time. Dealerships are scandalous front to back. If it's something minor and inexpensive you should ask them to warranty the part and see if they will let you do the repair yourself. A couple of dealerships have let me do this before.Originally posted by Cooter View Post"absolutely", not "probably" happens every day... every make and every dealershipLast edited by Buick355; 10-09-2012, 05:08 PM.

I worked at an unnamed Ford dealer as a lube tech when the Mach 1's came out. Guy brought one in for service and half the damned shop took turns taking it for a joy ride. They spent the day flogging on it, and right before the owner picked it up, they topped off the gas and ran it through make ready to clean it off.
I also used to run a big valet operation. You don't ever want to valet, trust me on that one.

As someone who worked at a dealer, yes this does happen to fast cars."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury." -Alexander Fraser Tytler

I have worked valet part time for 6 years. Not once have I ever fucked off in a customer's car, but can't say others don't. Of course I try to be respectful of other people's shit. Now, on the other note, I have seen some disgusting cars, some so bad I have turned them away. When we had the contract at UT Southwestern, I saw some real horrific shit.Originally posted by 4bangen View PostI worked at an unnamed Ford dealer as a lube tech when the Mach 1's came out. I hate to say it but it would not hold up in court, with the owner and Service Mgr yes. Something about you can't record something or someone and use it without their knowledge of knowing it was there, or some shit like that. <---Had some techs and our service mgr tell me this, go figure. But yes, If it's fast 95% sure its gonna get driven a little hard. Hell when my car came through the shop a salesman and a tech was written up for revving my car up, they were listening to the BOV. No telling what happened on the test drive.
