I think there is more to that story than 4 days in the hospital. Don't forget with hospitals you are paying for a pharmacist to dispense the meds and a nurse to give it.

Yeah, when I had my last bike wreck the hospital bill, not including the ambulance ride down off the mountain, was just over $40k. All told, including the following months of PT and meds, it was still half of the OP.
