even during the fox era it was still a pretty even match up. I had an 85 tpi LB9 /g32 305/5sp iroc and a l98/g92 equivalent 350tpi/auto 88 Trans Am GTA both stock and they would both beat an lx 5spd coupe from a dig and most rolls in the auto depending on mph. was usually a driver's race in the GTA but pretty consistent in the LB9 car. Ive had about 12-13 foxes/sn95 mustangs and like 5 fbodies so im not some fbody nuthugger

Well technically he was right. My trans am has no issues pulling on 2003-2010 GTs and its a drivers race with the mach 1s. i get out about a car on a STOCK 2003-04 cobra from a dig, but by the time we hit about 1/4 mile, they've come around me and put about a couple of cars on me.Originally posted by racrguy View PostFixed that for ya.

Brand loyal much? Stack a base 98+ z28 against a base mustang gt and it'll kick the shit out of the ford, period. This may be true back to 93, as I seem to remember the lt1 beating up on the cobra.Originally posted by FastFox View PostThe bow Ties have tried since 1967 to keep up. If they did not have Moptor Trend and NASCAR in their pocket, they would go away. Remember the camaer has gone away several times.

Speaking of Ringers...Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostI think Chevy is giving out ringers in these new 1LE road tests.
Their 426hp SS is now solidly running 12s stone stock? News to me. They've all been slow as shit from everything I've seen in person. Hell, the ZL1s barely run that with 580.

That said, the ZL1 is the first '10+ Camaro that even gets my needle wiggling.
Have you ever read this Jalop story, Danny?

Yeah. Even the Cobra's couldn't hang with the LS1 until the '03 came out.Originally posted by Sean88gt View PostBrand loyal much? I also remember Camaro's dominating Mustangs from about '73 up until '82, when the 5.0 GT came back.

lol 8 of those years chevy's pony cars werent even being made and still owning the mustang.Originally posted by SEB View PostI believe LS1 are 346 cubes & Chevy owned the pony war in my era from 93 to 2010, Ford had it from the Foxbodys era till 93 so about 10 years & then chevy had it 17 years & Ford is just now coming with it again in 2011 & having the edge for the past 3 years.
Oh x2 on what Pro88LX said! Camaro still holds its own today with the 5.0, I think now they are actually even matched for once between the two brands. The mustang has the number 1 spot for now cause the new camaros are PIGS
But I would rather have a new 5.0 than a ss any day.

no kidding. The npi motors are gutless turds, but they still walk the 3.8s stock for stock. Even if the 3.8 was faster...base fbodys look like ass, the 3.8 sounds like ass, and the interiors are heaps of garbage.Originally posted by JC316 View PostMust have been something wrong with the Mustang. I have owned both and the GT walks all over the 3.8L.
4.6L = 215HP/285ftlbs
3.8L = 200HP/220ftlbs
