Curiosity too, why are wheelie bars dangerous? Do they snap or something? Never had a car fast enough to even remotely be worried about such things.Originally posted by naynay View Postwheelie bars are just as dangerous.. that was more of an aerodynamics based wheelstand coming up that high after the 330'. i saw it live too. that was the craziest for sure but there was a lot of wrecks today. everyone was trying to go big since they got rained out yesterday

it looked like it started coming up hard, he got out, then got back in right when the suspension was rebounding which brought it WAAAYYYY up.Originally posted by naynay View Postwheelie bars are just as dangerous.. that was more of an aerodynamics based wheelstand coming up that high after the 330'. i saw it live too. that was the craziest for sure but there was a lot of wrecks today. everyone was trying to go big since they got rained out yesterday

they have the tendency to unload the suspension much more violently than the bumper will.. ive never driven a wheelie bar'd car either but imagine being full throttle 100' out and the car comes up on the bar. it's not going to let the car work its natural course of action (going up). but rather make the car find a new course for all the energy its putting out, which usually means going left or right.Originally posted by ceyko View PostCuriosity too, why are wheelie bars dangerous? its all speculation on my end but i have heard numerous times that putting a 7 or 8 second 1/4 car on the bar is a pants shitting experience.
heres a yellowbullet thread on the topic..
