True... But at the same time, that much weight could easily kill that other person in the other vehicle. Shitty situation but that dude got some mad fucking air!Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostBy what? A vehicle that weighs OVER 80,000 GVWR????
You just don't run a loaded 18-wheeler off the road... Color me skeptical.

I wouldnt put that much doubt in it... CDL drivers have to drive so defensively because usually an accident will cost them their job. Anytime one of our drivers gets into an accident, its drug testing/time off until results & a shit load of paperwork rather it was your fault or not.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostBy what? I've dodged all kinds of shit just to avoid other drivers. Luckily I havent been caught where there wasn't a shoulder to move over onto.

Yep it's bullshit. You should "know better" you're a professional and all these other yahoos are amateur hour. You can get rear ended and it can still end up being your fault some how.Originally posted by danielhv View PostI wouldnt put that much doubt in it... When it comes to denting someone's car or killing myself, that car is going to the body shop....Originally posted by danielhv View PostI wouldnt put that much doubt in it... Years ago when I was traveling from Ennis to Ft Worth for work we had a really dry/hot summer so much that the concrete on 287 was shifting. One slab northbound between Midlothian and Mansfield on the northbound lanes had tilted up like a ramp. I was going southbound and the only reason I noticed it was a pickup was northbound and went airborne. I was approaching the spot and trying to see what was in the road to call it in when a conventional 18-wheeler hit the same spot. Every axle that went over it came off the gound a good 18" or so. I thought the 18-wheeler was going to lose it.Originally posted by SS Junk View PostWhatever the case may be the occupants in that truck are extremely lucky to have escaped with no injuries. How fast do you have to be going to get a semi and trailer completely airborne...
I called it in and the next morning when I went to work the TXDOT had the lane barreled off.

If you watch the video you can see the white top of the cab and trailer of another semi on the highway below. Its not out of possibility that he got run off the road, but i also see cars and trucks take exits at highway speeds. Be interesting to find out the accident report on it.

Didn't think about it but I guess at those speeds the impact of a tank hitting the ground could cause enough compression in the tank to ignite maybeOriginally posted by Country cracker View PostI'm betting it was the fuel tank.___________________________________________

I was on my way to work in denton one day going up 35w and between western center and the 287 exit a 18 wheeler w/ trailer had been run off the road by another 18 wheeler that didn't stop. They had to use the jaws for extrication....heard in the next few days the driver did not make it.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostBy what? A vehicle that weighs OVER 80,000 GVWR????

The tank probably ruptured and the fuel was atomized because of the speed he was going and the violence of the crash. It's why airplane crashes are usually a huge fireball. The tanks rupture fuel sprays everywhere and then get's ignited by a spark.Originally posted by Veight7 View PostDidn't think about it but I guess at those speeds the impact of a tank hitting the ground could cause enough compression in the tank to ignite maybe
They've started using "fuel foam" in some aircraft to minimize this issue it helps keeps the fuel from spraying all over the place if the tanks are ruptured.2004 Suzuki DL650
