  • Got another random project, 40's coke cooler

Always liked these old coke box's, and found this one at a decent deal. I know, I know, paint your damn car! But I couldn't help it. I've already got it tore down, and loaded in truck to head to the sandblasters tomorrow.

I thought about not painting it, but I'd like to have this one looking nice.

Is that the kind that had all the drink bottles hanging from metal rail in a slot and you pulled the bottle along it until it came out at the end? I haven't seen one of this since the 50's!

I work for coke and that's friggin cool. I'd love to get one of the older vendors for the 8oz bottles but keeping it full would be outrageous.

If you're going to paint it, do a full-out restoration. Those were all around when I was a kid in the '60's.

Yeah make sure you paint it factory spec and keep it as close to all original parts as you can get. Those things are worth $$$$ when properly restored.

I think that would be badass restored. Worth a good chunk of change, too, I'd imagine.

Fixing to head up to the sandblaster right now. I was gonna talk to crash about painting the embossed letters, wasnt sure if he would be up for that or not.

Back from sandblaster, and now the "fun part" of making her straight again begins. There is some rust i didn't catch before on the main body, but nothing too bad. The lid though is worse than I thought, its prob going to be a bitch to get straight. Got new gaskets, hardware, handles, and bezels ordered today too.

Nothing a good sand bag, decent hammers, and a lot of patience couldn't handle. If you want a good metal bumper I know of one in Abilene.

The top shouldn't be to bad if you can get to the back. If not I have a stud gun that you can borrow. Or you could bring that top here. I have a coke box that I did a few years ago for my wife that is from the 20s. It's the first one that they ever used.
