This. I really don't want my kids to watch two gay guys kissing on the street, but it is their right. I explained to my kids why it happens. I don't want to see it, or my kids to see it, but I CANNOT repress their right to do it. Attempting to regulate it to only be done in hiding, out of the view of the public is the first step to making it illegal to do so at all.

Not communist, but most definitely it'll wind up a dictatorship.

At the same token. Just rather people not go advertising it.
I'd rather people not do a lot of things, that doesn't mean that I'd try in any way to stop them.

I don't care if people do drugs. Just don't do it in front of my kids. I don't care if people like the same sex. Just do it behind closed doors. Not in front of my kids. That's my point I was trying to make

All that school shit happening...you mean learning? You guys crack me up. Let's play the math game.

I did a few quick searches and didn't refine to make years match, but this will suffice.

    # of schools in the US for the 2009-2010 school year: 138,925
The NCES Fast Facts Tool provides quick answers to many education questions (National Center for Education Statistics). Get answers on Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Secondary Education and Higher Education here.

    # of instructional days in a school year (varies, but you have to pick a number): 180 days

    So 138,925 * 180 = 25,006,500 possibilities for a school shooting on a particular day at a particular school.

Now, let's look at actual events:

4 -- the number of school shootings in 2012 (the year of Newtown, Conn.)

Indiscriminate gun violence happened at a wide variety of different places—the only thing predicable is the frequency.?

So, that's 4 out of 25,006,500. I'd say that the 'school happenings' you're referring to putting you on edge means you must be referring to learning or the songs they sing in music or the fact that they can't play dodge ball at PE anymore.

Get over yourself and stop being afraid of what you can see -- someone who is a law abiding citizen exercising his/her rights. Be afraid of what you can't see openly -- thugs sneaking around with hidden weapons, libtards trying to make us socialists, and law abiding CHL citizens ready to defend themselves.

Probably, but the words you're using are really dangerous to personal liberties. I emplore you to better explain your thoughts.

Fair enough. Nobody is telling you that you can't be on edge, but what they are telling you is that you can't dictate what other people do based on you being afraid of something. If the guy isn't bothering anyone and just moseyin' on down the road with his long gun slung across his back, let the man keep on keepin' on. I view gun rights the same way I view drugs. If it's not directly affecting me and mine, it's none of my business, and if someone wants to limit someone's ability to do drugs, they need to have a good justification for it.

Being a father should have hardened you up. I wasn't as jaded and pissed off about our country when I was young, but when I had kids (and now grandkids) I realized the core values of our country are are being cut to pieces. All it takes is one person to say "FUCK YOUR RIGHTS" and then a couple other people with weak minds or agendas start parroting it, then hundreds- then thousands. Soon, that RIGHT IS FUCKED for everyone. When it is gone, it is gone, you won't be getting it back. It is a right that my kids and grandkids won't ever see. So, I take that shit very seriously.

No shame in my game! I got no problem saying I have emotion. Already spent 2 years there 20 years ago and haven't been back since. So that thought doesn't apply to me
