Just wow. Good thing some kids weren't walking down that road along with unarmed hikers and some coyotes or boars came at the kids. Maybe you'd want them to be armed and protect the kids then? I cycle a lot. The other day I was riding in Frisco by the mall area. I saw 2 coyotes crossing the street -- in the middle of a very populated area. Think some kids walking would be safe there? That was a rural area and by all means I have no problem with the guy carrying for that purpose.

If you take away rights of any kind from anyone, you simply create problems. Is it common to see someone OC'ing an AR-15? No. Should we sound the alarms and have squad cars swarm the area, launch a chopper, and call in SWAT to stop the guy who is OC'ing one? Absolutely not. The guy wasn't a threat, wasn't showing aggressiveness, and was bothering absolutely no one while exercising his right to carry on a hike. Had he been OC'ing by the mall and moving through the parking lot in a tactical manner as if he were going to attack the place, then by all means shoot him. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Simply OC'ing on a hike in a rural area isn't playing a stupid game.

It's well within your rights to call the police. However, the guy carrying the AR is well within his rights to OC and as long as he isn't harming anyone, the police should tell you that he isn't breaking any laws and you're just going to have to get over it. You're absolutely right, the safety of your kids is YOUR priority, nobody else should be tasked with keeping your children safe. I think you're being a bit paranoid bro. One of the interesting bits about the second amendment in a recent Supreme Court case was in the opinion that concurred with the decision. I forget the judge who wrote it, but basically he said to illustrate how absurd a restriction on the second amendment is, just apply it to the first amendment....

The whole problem with the govt is that they think that they can legislate against human behavior...which is impossible. They feel that since they have the ability to legislate and make laws, then they will...and "we the people" are allowing it. US citizens deserve what is coming...as long as people have their iphones, SUVs and Starbucks then they will remain apathetic and indifferent. When our economy collapses and these things become less available, then maybe the country will rise up...but then it may be too late.

The right and the physical power of the people to resist injustice, are really the only securities that any people ever can have for their liberties. Practically no government knows any limit to its power but the endurance of the people.
