The LS stuff is known for lubrication issues, they can starve pretty easy at high rpm. The factory rev limiters generally pull fuel through injector cuts unless it's drive by wire and then the computer just closes the throttle plate until it drops below the limited speed or holds steady.

You cant deny that if there is a bunch of bullshit, like dirt, leaves, etc, on the engine, that it is an indication whomever owned the truck was less than thorough with maintenance and upkeep.
