many years ago, we had a problem with the 767 fuel quantity indicators going blank while in flight..Problem was traced to unshielded wires in the overhead. coneheads did their thing and we flew a bird out to the New Mexico MOA for testing.. Tail stalls, steep banks, turns and nose overs were a riot.Natural law. Sons are put on this earth to trouble their fathers.

Those Tulsa boys are a special breed. Most of them are Military test pilots anyways. After a "C" check, they put the aircraft to the very extremes of manufactures limitations. Ex. engine out -- inflight restarts, stall, full stick pusher tests.........max bank, sounds like fun to me! I think Tulsa is MD-80 only for heavy checks. 68RR correct?

I'm sure that the FAA would be ok with that. A buddy of mine just checked out on one for United, he re-positioned one from Houston to Denver. Plane had 80 people on it. Time to fl400 was 12 minutes. VSI was pegged at 6,000/min for most of the entire 12 minutes. Best test hops were with the x-Air Cal guys when we did 8 of their 737-300's back in 88'. Pure enjoyment, HOWEVER, the dynamic duo of Pete Trout and Pat Leggit were a hoot to fly with when doing the test hops in the 767 and the DC-10.. Best one was a swap out one night in Dallas around 1 in the morning. we were taxiing out (767)and the AA tower (female) asked Pete if he could put on a show. He looked over at Pat and winked at us sitting in the First and 2nd observers seat. Needless to say the t.o. was damn near vertical and the rate of climb and the altimeter were going crazy!! MD-80 Heavy went to Mexico. Picking up a 737 Heavy in September. We're also "supposed" to get a 767 heavy this fall. not looking good at all. I was trying to get things set up to retire in Oct, but I believe I will have to wait till April of next year.
