Pretty sure every F14 (except any in museums) was completely scrapped by the AF to prevent Iran from getting any replacement parts for their F14s. Kind of a shame to destroy so many great jets.

F14 is still a very sexy aircraft by today's standards. Also by todays standards, how out matched is it against our modern birds?

F14 is still a very sexy aircraft by today's standards. Also by todays standards, how out matched is it against our modern birds?

It was never very maneuverable especially compared to the f16 or f18. But it has the advantage at distance with long range radar and the Maverick middle. An f22 will eat it's lunch in almost any situation but against f16 f18 and f15 it really depends on the scenario and the pilot. Close range it probably loses to all 3. Long range it might win except against the f15. It would destroy the f4 10 out of 10 times though.
