Thats probably why he should have installed a drive shaft loop. Ill bet it dropped the front of the drive shaft and in stuck in the pavement and povolted that Mopar.

this is why I was talking about the u-joint. I think something happened to the drive shaft and it beat around on the bottom of the car and cement, stabbed the into the cement and pushed the moment/weight of the car pushed the rearend out.Originally posted by jleews6 View PostThats probably why he should have installed a drive shaft loop. He was on it hard then stood on the brakes to avoid rear ending the truck in front (captain obvious says: you're welcome).
It's like the brakes over powered the upstream drivedrain inertia and caused the climactic 1-2-3-BAM seizure that was the rear end.
This might be the one hotrod where the whoa was more well funded than the go.Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."
Homer: "Bart...there's 2 things I know about women. Never give them nicknames like "jumbo" or "boxcar" and always keep receipts...it makes you look like a business man."

Or mister meaner. Or Lewis Derrick.Originally posted by Binky View Postholy shit povolted.
thats almost better than stupied!
If Mythbusters is to be believed, the "povolting" is extremely unlikely. It is vastly more likely that the drive shaft would just bang around, and if it did dig in, it would likely crumple before the whole rear end came out. Unless of course the structure holding the rear end was compromised in some way.

Does look like the brake lights were on before the povolted action. Could also be the brake proportioning was wonky and the back brakes had more power than the front. With those big tires the thing started bounce povolting and came apart from there.Originally posted by barronj View PostIt's like the brakes over powered the upstream drivedrain inertia and caused the climactic 1-2-3-BAM seizure that was the rear end.
