that happens all the time, he needs to know where to be to make the call. how would you feel if the offense scored because a defender was screened by his ass just standing there?
i've been on both sides of the coing, the back field judge needs to be by the safety, or drop behind the DE.

You dont run into the ref for any reason. It's one thing to run into them by accident but this isnt an accident. Both of those players targeted the ref. And no this doesnt happen all of the time. Ref's are run into by accident all the time but Iv never seen or heard of a football player targeting like that. The other aspect is they ran into him and hit his back. Another thing you dont do in football. Refs dont wear any pads. Knocking down a ref like that is a coward move.Originally posted by Tremor14 View Postthat happens all the time, he needs to know where to be to make the call. how would you feel if the offense scored because a defender was screened by his ass just standing there?

The article says that the two players claim that the ref made racial slurs so they did what they did. But according to other accounts the ref made some bad calls during the game. I guess no one will know if the ref made racial slurs or not. I wasnt there but it sounds like they were getting "even" and when they got in trouble they dropped the race card.

....Spectators at the game told SB Nation that the incident in question came after multiple unsportsmanlike penalties earlier in the game, including the ejection of a John Jay player who threw a punch. The attack on the official came with about a minute left on the clock, while Marble Falls was attempting to run out the clock on a 15-9 victory.Players and students from John Jay have tweeted that the hit came after racial slurs were used by the targeted official. John Jay starting quarterback Moses Reynolds is not among those who made allegations of racist comments, but did seem to come to the defense of his team's actions:

That ref was playing umpire. The umpires job is to watch the blocks on the offensive/defensive line. He shouldnt have to turn around and watch the safety. His eye was on the ball and watching where the ball was going.Originally posted by Tremor14 View PostI played safety. my eyes were on number 3 the whole time.he ran right at the ref. if nmy nickle back or any LB calls "run run run" i'm all in, sorry that ref needs to move around and get his head in the game.

i retract my statements if it was intentional. But i will say i played football from 3rd grade through 12th and things can get a bit heated. if the ref was making racial slurs he deserves what he got by letting two teens in much better shape than him, stant behind him without being aware of his surroundings.

when you have 22 men on the field, you move with them. show me another video of an ump standing around behind a line of LB's and i'll show you where he gets his ass run over too.Originally posted by stephen4785 View PostThat ref was playing umpire.
