I was wondering who would spend that much money on a half ton in the first place. The light couriers I used never put money in their small trucks/vans.

we bought those trucks for a specific purpose - most of the work we do is lightweight pallet delivery (pallets under 1000lbs) - all my trucks with beds are torn up and have had forklifts run through them

my job is to do cost based analysis for our equipment and truck fleet. this includes everything the truck will need.

here are the costs for my trucks
F550 - $.46 a mile
F450 - $.32 a mile
F350 - $.30 a mile
F250 - $.36 a mile (gasser)
Dodge 1500 - $.16 a mile

overall cost of the truck for 150K miles is roughly $24K (adding the bed and truck cost im running around $46K total cost) - bought 2 for 18K each - my F550 cost me around $70K to run 150K miles

so in the long run its cheaper to run 1500 flat beds - and i dont just mean a tuner, im talking intake, exhaust and a cam...
