I owned a GTS many years ago and hated it. Shifted like crap, rode like crap, I am not a pro driver so I kinda like having some nannys and the car HATES any dampness on the road. Car spent its entire time trying to kill me. I am sure the current ones are way way better but I hated mine. More so when we got it up on a rack and it looks like it was built in a barn from a chopped up Dakota.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

No kidding man. I'm kinda thinking it makes more sense to just invest in another old car with that $20K instead of putting it down on one of these. I'd sure like to have one though.Originally posted by helosailor View PostAh, gotcha. Your reasoning is still right on as far as the cost/benefit. That's a lot of coin.70' Chevelle RagTop

Seeing as how the R models are selling for 90 to low 100s I'd say I'd take that "sucker" investment. I'm sure the market will fall as it usually does but they should hold value fairly well. And yes Ford said they were limiting the R to 500 per year and approx 5000 for the GT350 for 16 and 17. They do not plan to continue it past 17 but Ford has changed their minds before.Originally posted by quikag View PostInvestment for suckers. Ford has never said these will be limited edition.

The R may hold value fairly well, especially if Ford limits total production, but the non-R won't hold value very well over the long-term IMHO.Originally posted by KWClutch View PostSeeing as how the R models are selling for 90 to low 100s I'd say I'd take that "sucker" investment. Word, investments are things like gold and lead.Originally posted by KWClutch View PostAdditionally if you buy 95% of cars as an investment you're not doing it right.Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Not really, it seems 5500 people and in the grand scheme of things thats a low number.Originally posted by KWClutch View PostLots of people seem to think otherwise.
I was expecting more and when you can get a Roush with a blower and a long list of parts, it would seem like a better deal than the factory GT350.Originally posted by Sgt Beavis View PostAgreed. Though I get it that it isn't worth it to Rick. However it's a damn bargain when you consider it's a production race car.
I bleed FORD blue and have given more than my fair share to Ford since 1991, but I didn't use the word unimpressive, I said I would expect more for $65k+. It's a cool car, it looks kick ass and the motor is very exotic, but just like the Euro cars, not enough TQ for such a heavy car with IRS.Originally posted by KWClutch View PostSounds like it needed a driver mod. They have the car rated at 526/429 so with traditional drivetrain loss percentages it seems like it was under rated. It has .2 more cubes. Yes it has a higher RPM due to the crank but it makes 100 more hp with a much better curve than a stock 5.0. Tune only they are knocking on 500. LTs and tune they are around 520. I wouldn't say that's unimpressive.
This is what I've done to my 5.0 and makes plenty of power for me. I like the newer body style but, I'm not paying their outrageous prices for a similarly optioned car, much less to close to a $100k for a car with a special mill and some Recaro seats and suspension.Originally posted by aggie97 View PostI had better hopes for these. My swap with lts and 302 intake on a bone stock 2011 take out made 457/399 with a power steering pump on the front. These have cubes, better heads, better intake and other trickery as well as another 1000 rpm to make hp. Drive line loss must be terrible. Hate to say it but I will take a 1LE Camaro at a hell of a discount all day long. Hell last weekend our bone stock 2004 911 ran away from a GT350 with ease down at TWS. The 350 made all kinds of noise but never seemed to go anywhere. The lack of torque and 3800# with driver makes the car very unimpressive.Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.

Uhhh, Ford only made 300 of those and they made almost 400hp/400tq to the wheels and weighed 3400lbs. So I would guess that the GT350R is more suited to be compared but I doubt it will eat it around the track, i also remember 175+mph top speed...Originally posted by A_A_G View PostThis thing is a bargain at sticker (both R and non-R), do you guys remember what the 2000 Cobra R stickered for? I'm no expert, but I bet the GT350 would destroy a 2000 R around a track.Originally posted by Rick Modena View PostUhhh, Ford only made 300 of those and they made almost 400hp/400tq to the wheels and weighed 3400lbs. Uh, a GT350R would stomp a mud hole in a 2000 Cobra R. My '08 Vette gave a red one hell (and it was driven by a solid driver) at MSR many years ago.Originally posted by Rick Modena View PostUhhh, Ford only made 300 of those and they made almost 400hp/400tq to the wheels and weighed 3400lbs. I wasn't the one who brought up the word 'investment' into the discussion. I agree most car purchases are not investments at all. Even my GT4 will be lucky to hold value over a longer period of time, much less appreciate.
