Yeah, it was night and day difference with mine. 30PSI in the bags and I towed a 4300lbs car for 220 miles, didn't even feel it. Still not as good as my K2500 diesel, but better than most 1/2 ton trucks.Originally posted by LS1Goat View PostSame here. First thing I did when I bought my Ram was bag it. Amazing at the difference in how the truck tows with heavier loads.
Bags alone would probably do it.Originally posted by LaserSVT View PostYeah I agree. I had put drop shackles on it when I bought it not really expecting to haul a car with it. Now I am thinking of puttin it back at the stock height or putting assist bags on it.
I usually flip a heavy car around backwards on that style of trailer. Put the weight over the axles and it tows great.Originally posted by Chili View PostTongue was already too heavy in that pic, moving it forward would only make it worse. Moving it back (which is what it sounds like he did) was the right move. Flipping it backwards probably would have been better.

My truck is as low as I'll comfortably go for driving around to and still using it as a truck when the need arises. I've got the Air Lift SlamAir kit on mine - it's only rated at 2,000 pounds - and I've pulled my Mustang on my trailer with zero problems.Originally posted by LaserSVT View PostNow I am thinking of puttin it back at the stock height or putting assist bags on it.
With your truck being so close to stock height, you'll be able to get the 5,000# bags and you'll never have any problems. Well, other than maybe losing control at 100+ mph.

Yeah I was stupid. I was aggervated and just wanted home and had to shit so I went too fast. You all are right. I was under 70 (and usually under 10) from San Antonio all the way through Austin but by the time I got off 130 I had enough and was just impatient. That 3 hour drive took nearly 9 and I was late for a date.
No excuse though, it was dumb.
But the truck could do it which is what impressed me. I have no intention of doing it again though.
As for loading of the car, was the first time I used the trailer. I had just bought it Monday and was learning all its in and outs. Next time I will back the car on. I had already figured with th 5000lb CL that I would have to anyway.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
