yes and no...

medical treatment for a lifetime is very expensive. If they can use organs like the pig kidney in the video for human use (they already use pig heart valves in humans), then it wont be near as expensive.

Im pretty sure insurance companies would be thrilled by this and be happy to pay. With the current prices of transplant services, life long medications to prevent rejection, organ rejection, and the complications of being immunosuppressed while on the anti-rejection medications, they will come out ahead in the long run.

My girlfriends little sister had a kidney transplant last year. Her medical care from 3 years ago until now is will into the 1.5million dollar range.
