it's the power jack on the motherboard... needs to be replaced.

I've made a habit of only charging my new acer when I'm not using it... reduces the current draw on the power jack and you don't bump/bang it. It helps that it has 6hr+ battery life

I've had power jack issues on multiple laptops

Do either one of you recommend anyone who can fix it? I've read that I may have to replace the whole motherboard or if I'm lucky enough I may only have to solder it all back together.Originally posted by Cooter View Postit's the power jack on the motherboard... needs to be replaced.

don't know, parts can be had on ebay. we've got this crazy fucker here in Alvin who runs his own computer repair shop. I usually have him do my circuit board repair.

Especially considering how cheap they've gotten recently. If you have an old computer and/or a cheap one I'd just buy a new one and sell yours for parts on eBay or something. I've recently bought a new Lenovo and an HP a few months ago both running Windows 7 64 Bit for under $350 each.Originally posted by ceyko View PostMay or may not be valid, but how old is the laptop? Sometimes it's more sensible just to buy new.
