H+ to 3g to H+ to 3g

My phone keeps doing this and its quite annoying- how can i get it to stick to H+ solely in the metroplex?

stand in one spot and dont move. Seriously most phones, like mine, bounce back and forth and the icon doesnt change. They just show H+ all the time even on 3G. Whats so annoying about it?

I assumed its why my messenger apps keep connecting and disconnecting

The only thing you can do and it will cause loss of service when out of the HSPA network is, from the dialer, press *#*#4636#*#* select phone information swipe down to where is says Preferred Network Type and select HSPA Only.

Btw, I think ALL att faux g phones do this.
