Hey I got a 2007 13" macbook from a girl I used to bone and I'm trying to format it with a new image of Snow Leopard. I have lots of experience with PC but absolutely clueless when it comes to OSX.

So what exactly are you asking? Do you have the store bought (retail) Snow Leopard disc or are you trying to use a downloaded image you found floating around on the web? Its a pretty easy job to format and reinstall Snow Leopard on a Macbook.Originally posted by robs97snake View PostHey I got a 2007 13" macbook from a girl I used to bone and I'm trying to format it with a new image of Snow Leopard. It's a downloaded .dmg and the problem is the Mac reading it. Opening it with the Disk Utility tells me I need to burn it to disc and install it from there. I didn't have any dual layer dvd-rs so I made a bootable USB. That worked but then I got "cannot use this volume". I finally got my old dual layer discs but before I burnt any I tested to see if the computer would read the disc and of course, it doesn't.

 What now???

Google "how to install Snow Leopard from a USB drive".
Just did this myself on a Macbook. You will need a USB drive of about 8gb...or use a USB external hard drive. It has to be formatted in the disk utility (dont remember which format which is why I said google it). Once properly formatted copy the image to the disk. IF the image is a functioning disk...holding C at boot will give you the option of the external drive. I still say go to Frys and buy a retail Snow Leopard disk for 29 bucks. I haven't found many internet copies of snow leopard that actually worked...and I wouldn't trust it even if it did.
