I've found a number of people on CL that can allegedly fix this for cheap, but don't know enough about the problem to know whether it's some kind of scam. Anyone know someone or somewhere that can fix my PS3?

When I fixed mine, it lasted little over 2 months. Fixed a couple more times and they lasted about 3 weeks. I wasn't using flux, which I believe was the issue??? I took it to "Gadget Guy" in Plano and that's what he told me after I told him what all I did. Don't know if he did anything else, but either way it's up and running. So far it's been working a little over 2 months.

Happened to me in September; called Sony and the tech walked me through a couple of steps to help the system start up in "safe mode" which allowed him to find out what was wrong.

Software malfunction and the only way to fix it was $99.99 paid to Sony. I paid it, they sent a box with all of the padding included along with a foam form that blanketed the PS3. Sent it off and in 2 wks had a new one and been going ever since.Originally posted by Sean88gtYou can take white off the list. My Xbox would be pointing and laughing, but it crapped out within about 6 month from when I bought it new. Luckily they fixed it for free. My PS3 since early 2007 and this is the first problem I've had with it.Originally posted by Shaggin Wagon View PostThat sucks.........(Xbox points and laughs......)

He charged me $75. It helps with soldering so it can flow better which helps make better contact. It's also a cleaning solution. I just did a friends ps3 and I actually used flux, so hopefully it will last a lot longer than mine. Another tip is to have ps3 out in open and I would stand it up vertical.
