  • Next big thing...?

So what is it? I mean, I am still running a slightly upgraded (GPU) version of a machine I built 6 years ago and its still running everything on max or near-max settings just fine.

    Q6700
    8GB DDR2 1066
    GTX 460
    a few TB of storage

I see people building new machines, but to what end at this point? For gaming? I run BF3 on just about max-everything with zero issues. Not trying to talk shit but just curious as to what big leap is coming in PC gaming. It almost feels like they aren't pushing the limits with the programming as much as in the past

I know this sounds silly, but its because of consoles being so old. The developers couldnt develop anything that the consoles couldnt produce, and if they could, it would be at a reduced framerate.

However, good news is developers are making engines now like the latest Unreal engine that they say is next-gen only.

Right now technology is ahead of development, but it always goes in cycles. Remember a few years back Crysis came out and made 99% of hardware cry out like bitches.
