  • Issue w/pc...

PC reboots and when it comes up, it just says reboot and select proper boot device. Reset doesn't work. I have to actually power down and turn back on for it to work. I actually saw it happened this morning. It becomes unresponsive and then the screen turns bright and just sits there. Can't do anything. It will then reboot to that error message about boot device.
Had pc OC'd to 4.2, and I dropped it down to 4.0. I might even just put speed back to normal. I viewed the event logs and it gives me the same Kernal 41 error that I had before, which I thought was a RAM issue.

I'd guess your SSD took a shit. Have you tried it on another machine?

It works, but it reboots after around 20 or so minutes. I guess it could mean the hdd is getting ready to take a shit...lol

did you manually set the ram speed and timings in the bios? Voltage too

have you run memtest 86 yet? I ask because there's a possibility of the CPUs on die cache being bad.

Nope put everything to auto from pm you sent me. Unless I misunderstood it. Only thing I did after install of ram was set it to auto, and manually changed the multiplier. It is set to 19 x 210.
I can run the memtest when I get home tonight.

            update.....

Ran the memtest 86 for like 2 1/2-3 hours....no errors.

So I read up some and did the following:

            1. Updated SSD firmware from Corsiar website

            2.Defrag c: /x

            3. Ran CCCleaner

            4. Ran FreeSpaceCleaner with "ff box" checked, then rebooted

            5. Do a little surfing and rebooted again

I did this last night and left pc up and running. Still running smooth and no issues yet. Hopefully that was it. Firmware update had patches for issues I was having. No reboots at all and it's running pretty smooth.

Good deal. Admittedly, I have very little experience with SSD's, so I never suspected that to be the culprit.

My SSD took a shit a couple of weeks ago. Most of the time once you update the firmware everything is good.
