  • wireless setup for my desktop

So I've been using this Netgear WN311B for over 2 years and it works great. However, I installed a CPU widget on my desk top and I have figured out that this damn wireless card/antenna is constantly sucking 13% of my CPU ALL THE FRIGGIN' TIME. I updated drivers this morning and nothing has changed.

What are my options? I don't feel like crawling up in the attic this time of year to run a Cat5 cable to where our router is located but I might have to.

Are there any cards out there with decent reception in a house that don't use 13% of your system resources to run? Mostly bought this unit as I was concerned about reception within our house/doors/rooms but it might be overkill?

    Thanks.

PS....do laptops with wireless have the same problem?

here is a new one...after the computer wakes up from sleep mode, the net card is showing 25% CPU usage....and the computer slows down a bunch.

guess it's time to run that wire this weekend....
