New service provider, new problem

Switched to time warner and for some reason when I try to go to www.google.com I'm directed to www.google.com/ap_index and get a 404 error. It only happens on google on the laptop. I've been reduced to using Bing and found this http://www.ultrageek.com/?p=28 but I need someone to dumb it down for me on what to do.

Run Ccleaner, if that doesn't fix it, hard reset your modem.
