BF4 release

Well I finally broke down and went out and purchased BF4 for my 360. Everyone has pretty much jumped off GTA5 and I am tired of running around by myself.

Well, I was unaware of any BF4 issues other than the online connectivity so I figured I could manage until I can afford a PS4 and the games that go along with it.

Get home, load up BF4 and get an error, "cannot save to anything other than a Xbox 360 HD". Well, I have a Xbox HD as well as several flash drives so I figure I clicked on the wrong option. I repeated this process 3 times, removed files from my HD and still, nothing.

So I get online and start to find out that people who have the 4GB Xbox cannot play this game without upgrading their HD. I am not going to go spend another $60 just to play my $60 for another few months...

Turns out that the 4GB HD is recognized as a Flash Drive by EA standards, its their programming. EA has made no announcements with regards to this and most people wouldn’t think twice about buying a game. By the time people do find out, they have already opened their copy therefore it cannot be returned without losing a substantial amount of money on the investment.

So here I sit, with a brand new copy of BF4 I cannot play and unless I want to spend additional money (Rockstar anyone) I cannot and will not ever be able to play.

So, I'm getting crashes left and right on this bitch. The same Direct X errors that hundreds of other people are crying about. It's really random for me, and it's starting to piss me off.

I forget the name off the top of my head, but Nvida has a program that will "optimize" BF3. Since I've done that I've had 0 crashes.

I hate the AA...passive missiles suck.

The active radar missiles are so much worse. You don't even hear the warning until you are hit.

How you like the new maps? I've only gotten to play on one of them for about 5 minutes.

The China Rising maps? I like that they are so open, but they need to tone down the mobile AA. They are overpowered on such open maps. My opinion, anyway.

So, i got tired of reading all the Win7 vs Win8.1 comparisons made with this game regarding performance and stability which always gave Win8.1 the edge. I decided to reach out to my favorite pirate seas and grab a copy on 8.1.
Installed it, and jesus christ is there a difference in running this game.

Frame rate definitely doesn't shoot around as much, and I was able to go from running the game at 1920x1080 low settings (was running it at low so there was absolutely no frame jumping/stutter) to high settings with no stutter. My gtx480 still can't run it at ultra and maintain a decent fps, but no problems with high.

Since yesterdays update, i also haven't ran into a single crash, or failure to join a server. I can only imagine it'll be in my near future, but for right now, I'm enjoying it working in all it's glory.
