windows tablets on screen keyboard question

I just got a new tablet with 8.1. So far i like it, except i have to click on a box to type, and then click on the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen to type.

Is there any way to make the keyboard come up automatically when clicking in a area where you can type?

I'm wondering the same thing, I mean Android does it. I think they are expecting most users to have a wireless keyboard of some sort.

Yeah. Its semi annoying.

That's weird. My surface does it automatically when I don't have the touch cover on.

It's supposed to popup whenever you touch a text field. Mine did an update last night but I haven't tried it yet.

I got a update as well. Still wont pull up the keyboard when you touch a text field.

The reason your surface works is it is windows 8 rt.
