  • ¿Excel question?

Alrighty so I have two accounting spreadsheets each of them have a colum of account numbers. Spreadsheet 1 has account numbers and values in the rows beside it. What I am wanting to do is compare spreadsheet 1 account numbers against spreadsheet two account numbers IF the account number matches copy the row from spreadsheet 1 to spreadsheet 2 in the same row as the account number. I started with the Vlookup, but I am think that is the wrong direction. Any help provided is greatly appreciated.

If you are trying to match the raw data from the master sheet with the sheet that just has the account numbers, I would definitely use vlookup then filter accordingly.

You could also do a multi-level sort, and a pivot table.

Would work also, but a vlookup would be a much more simple formula to extract his type of data.
