I'd start with FF6. Just download an SNES emulator and look for Final Fantasy 3. It was released as 3 in the U.S., but 6 in Japan. FF7 is probably the best one out there story-wise. It really takes you into the background of all the characters very well. FF8, I thought was pretty good even though a lot of people disagree. Not as good as seven, but still had a great story to it and a very unique leveling up system. FF9 was good, but they tried to over do it with the graphics and fights are slow. I never finished it, but got pretty far from what I remember. FFX was a great game, but was extremely linear compared to previous games. FFX2 was a spinoff of FFX and it was horrible. FFXI was all online, never played it. FFXII I heard had a great story but the gameplay pissed me off so I never got far in it. FFXIII...lot of hype that I feel didn't deliver."Any dog under 50lbs is a cat and cats are pointless." - Ron Swanson

 Me at age 10-

 At the video store
Me: Hey this looks pretty good, that graphic of a guy holding a bigass sword on the cover looks sweet! I cant wait to get home and play this

 At home
Me: Alright Ill just put this in here *disc spins up*
Me: Alright that was a cool intro video!
Me: Oh sweet a fight, this should be great!
begins mashing buttons in a typical fighting fashion
Me: Hmm, well thats not doing anything.... Oh I guess I need to select "attack"
Character runs up to enemy, attacks, "you have missed"
Me: What the fuck is this shit?

Hahahaha! Its a love hate relationship. I borrowed FFVIII and played it and I was like wtf is this crap. (new concept for me) but ended up enjoying it. It died with FFX now I despise RPG's. Only shooters and strategy for me now.Originally posted by DOHCTR View PostMe at age 10-

FF3 is the best IMO as well, I downloaded an emulator on the computer like 6 years ago and just recently found it on a backup of that hard drive and started the game up and was appalled by the graphics lol. I literally played that game for hundreds of hours.... good thing I was in 3rd grade and didn't really have anything better to do.Originally posted by idrivea4banger View PostThat game was a breakthrough for squaresoft and Sony. It pretty much revolutionized rpgs for Sony. As far as using 3d renderings and streamlining it with 2d was groundbreaking for a gaming console. The game stayed true to basis of a ff series plotline. All the characters had great backgrounds and interesting stories. Once squaresoft became square-enix the storylines were very shitty. I loved ff7 but imo ff3(us version) is the greatest final fantasy in the whole series.

Someone stole FF3 from me back then as well as Chrono Trigger which was also awesome IMO. I think I still have FF8, 9, 10, 11, and 13.
I agree 13 was very linear, too guided and not as good as it should've been because of that. Never actually played 11, purchased, got home and realized it was online only and said screw it.

This is old news I saw a couple on ebay about 1yr-2yrs ago and it was going for $110. IMO 7 is the best rpg, next to that on my list would be ff9 I didn't like 8 very much. I still have my ff7 disc unfortunately it is a greatest hits copy and the discs aren't in the best condition. (still works though)
