    Even though I literally have no idea what I'm doing, I'm going to try and turn a optiplex 380 that I got for free into a gaming machine. I've been watching youtube and googling for two weeks solid. I got a few parts coming. Im expecting quite a bit of frustration, but I'm excited to learn something new and hopefully be successful.

    Still need a power supply, an SSD, a video card better/newer than a 770, DDR 4 ram, something better than an I3 7100, and a monitor.

    You guys have pretty much given me every other component for this build for free +/- beer and/or a handy.

    Gotta love this site.

    It helps him to get more familiar with the OS and hardware. He'll be better than all these dupes that can only use their iphone. All that stuff about "kidz is teh smart and can use computer!!" is a BS blanket statement made by dumb parents who think their kids are way smarter than they actually are.

    Some of em are. The ones who are just exposed to grandma phones (iphones) and tablets, kinda suck. You have to show them how to do the most basic stuff on a laptop or desktop. So he needs to have the a PC at some point while he's young.

    Always been a fan of PC gaming as nothing makes a young person learn the OS/hardware like having to fix/modify it to play the game.
