PC to TV via HDMI: hearing static

ok. Do you have more than 1 HDMI input on your TV? and if so have you tried them to see if the static still comes through? If it does I would recommend trying a new cable. If it still happens after an new cable, start thinking about seeing if it does it with any other device(s).

Have you made sure the TV is set to detect the digital audio signal? If the setting is wrong or not set to auto then it could be looking for an analog signal.
