The best war movies/series

If you're bringing that up you might as well mention ABC's answer, China Beach. Unfortunately for both series though we had a real war on TV, people could care less about TV dramas when there is live combat on CNN. They were both pretty good.

It is hard for me to include a TV series as a favorite compared to most war movies. Although as a kid my favorite show was Black Sheep Squadron and I think they did a decent job with that show even though most of the flight footage was canned crap. Tour of Duty was much the same way, I watched it and liked it.

2) Bridge Over the River Kwai
3) Tora Tora Tora
4) Empire of the Sun
5) The Pacific

what else we got? I think Kwai was a great rise and overcome movie.

Empire of the Sun is a really good movie, from a really unique perspective. It's just long as shit.

U571 is a good one, but Schinder's List that far down? I can't find of a movie that better demonstrates the reality of Nazi occupied Europe than that film.
