Planet of the Apes, sort of fits in.

I love these movies too. if it is a movie about society being fucked, I am in.

The Terminator movies fit this I guess.

There was a TV show called Jericho that made it into
The second season before being cancelled. I think it's on Netflix streaming, I really liked it. There is also a current show called The Colony which is decent

Waterworld - I always liked this movie
The Postman - another post-apocalyptic movie with Kevin Costner
The Stand - mini-series based on the Stephen King novel, not great but decent
Deep Impact - Only the end of the movie is real post-apocalyptic, but still one of my favorites.

I also have a weird affinity to post-apocalyptic movies and books. Something appealing about all of society being gutted and one person, or a handful of people left to pick themselves out of the ashes and make do.

Carriers - not a lot of action, but I think its well done.

A Boy and His Dog- AMAZINGLY great flick! I had forgotten about that. It was on Netflix streaming about a year ago.

I Am Legend was a book, then made into a movie a few times (Omega Man was based on it). The book was awesome, neither the Will Smith Legend nor Omega Man came close.

I Am Legend was the Novella that Omega Man and its sequels were made from. The new I Am Legend was just another schlocky Will Smith Vehicle.

This site has a bunch listed though most I have never heard of. Should be able to find some pretty good lesser-known stuff.
