It was a British mini-series made at a time when nuclear war seemed inevitable. It is available on Google video last time I checked.

The story follows a couple of groups of people trying to live life in post-atomic England. Struggling for food, a generation of illiterate children are raised, farm equipment fails, babies are stillborn and mutated...

    It is worth checking out.
Thanks. Never have been able to find that.

Lots of good movies mentioned. About the only thing I can add is a movie called The Divide staring Michael Biehn.

Survivors of a nuclear attack are grouped together for days in the basement of their apartment building, where fear and dwindling supplies wear away at their dynamic.
Haven't seen it yet but it looks interesting. Need to find a copy of it to watch online.

Last I checked, there really aren't many Oscar worthy post-apocolyptic movies out there. Does The Happening deserve to be on a list with The Godfather or Seven Samurai.....hell no?! Can it find its place in the likes of 28 Days Later or I Am Legend, I think it can?! The acting was poor and the plot was water thin....but the portrayal of a world where our society ceases to exist was pretty good.

Damn you for making me defend that piece of crap

I know some of those have been mentioned already.....just agreeing.

And I won't be seeing the Red Dawn remake. Complete BS to even make it.
